A video explaining my back injury and sleeping problems. CPAP are crazy to get used to and keep clean. Plus it hurt my ears… thanks insurance for making try this before surgery!

I had back surgery for scoliosis and woke up with one of those mask things on. They kept putting it on me and I kept taking it off it was uncomfortable. How do people breath in those things?

I figured, at least I would know what the problem was. After about 3 years they started sending me to physio and chiropractors, which made things worse…surprise! To get an MRI here you need to be referred from your Doc, but they always wanted to try something else to extort more $. My disc seems to rupture about every 3-4 months and puts me totally out of action for 3-5 weeks at a time. I was referred to a specialist 6 mo’s ago and still haven’t heard from them. Hows your new disc is going?

Hey Jack, I have been having these same problems for about 7 years, its generally on and off and has probably put me out of action for about 1/4 -1/3 of the time. For the first few years no doctor would listen, they told me I was too young for back problems and send me away. I went to half a dozen doctors and the hospital (when it was possible to actually move) but was never taken seriously, and was never even prescribed pain relief. All I ever wanted was a MRI scan…

My Dear!
Your american surgery is shit! Don’t do that! Here In europe we get a newly built disc made of your own cells. Its real tissue ingeneering. Its your own cells. I got it, for free of course, and I feel like newborn ! Forget those ectomies and those old american sugeries technics. Have good luck, and I wish you health too. greetings.

Dude. I am so sorry those two things happened to you, but the thing even more odd is that I also had a bum disk and had surgery AND I am on CPAP. I am 10 years out on surgery, a microdiskectomy. Good to know you can now replace the disk. My CPAP mask is much smaller, you must be a mouth breather with that full face mask. Best of luck to you.

OH, SH*T, you had me in stitches!!! That whole bit with the cpap mask was hilarious. Part of it is sad because I have to wear a freakin cpap. Holy crap, you hit on the freakin truth. I often wonder about what my wife thinks when she sees darth next to her. plus that freakin noise it makes. I guess it’s better than the paper factory racket with the snoring, but the look sucks.

dude, I just got diagnosed with sleep apnea too and they got me on this CPAP (more like CRAP). This is 2007, is a freaking mask and hose the best technology they have for sleep apnea?!? I’m about your age and I think its pretty ridiculous to be expected to wear this thing every day for the rest of your life.

I just got home from my 2nd sleep study, fitting and tuning my CPAP. It was OK to start out with, but I think they turned it up to much, cause I woke up at 4:30 AM, sweating, in a panic. I hope it does some good, because it was a pretty miserable experience.

I’m having a disc surgery today, I hope everything goes okay
I just can’t stand the pain anymore

How old are you?

LOl, what else can I do… mope around and get depressed over “maybe” not having nose surgery? haha
Thanks for the support, the disk replacement is the one that freaks me out! I’ll get through it though, and I HOPE they let me film my experience! Since it’s so new to the US and my doc is famous, they might have cams in the OR to help teach new doctors! I REALLY want a copy of that, and assuming I’m not paralyzed, I’ll post it here of course

I dont mean to laugh but, jajajajajaja…thank god you are able to make it seem like nothing. good luck with the operation, hang in there.

But what do you do when the goo has already spread or been absorbed? About the mask, yeah it sucks! I can’t use the nose type cuz I have a deviated septum and can’t breath well through my nose.
July 17th, 2010 at 4:34 am
Jajajaja, very funny…I have to wear that stupid mask too, but mine is a lot smaller and it only goes on my nose, now bach therapy is supposed to act as a vaccum on the vertebra and suck the goo back to its place, blah blah blah
